PCCA, Inc. and Best Coalition Awarded $628,000 Grant

The Danville Regional Foundation today announced a grant to a new coalition that aims to put more money in the pockets of the working poor and boost the economy of the region.

The Foundation has awarded a grant of $628,000 over three years to the BEST Coalition, an organization formed by the United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County, Pittsylvania County Community Action, Virginia Legal Aid Society and Caswell County Senior Center. BEST is an acronym for Building Economic Success Together.

The goal of the BEST Coalition is to increase family self-sufficiency by developing an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) initiative for Danville, Caswell and Pittsylvania counties.

National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) - National Conference March 12-15

he National Community Reinvestment Coalition will be holding its National Conference from March 12-15. This conference may be of interest to you, as it brings together community stakeholders from across the country, including community-based organizations, financial institutions, mortgage and real estate professionals and government officials, for training on and strategic discussion of community revitalization issues, including sustainable homeownership, small business development, asset building and the relationship between the environmental and economic justice movements.

This year’s conference, entitled “Creating the Vision for a Fair Economy: Investing in People and Communities,” promises to be one of our best yet. Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke, FDIC Chair Sheila Bair, and CNBC Anchor Diana Olick are among the confirmed speakers.
