Act on Poverty at 25 Virginia Locations

On Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 10:00 am until noon the Act on Poverty event will be held simultaneously at 25 community college locations around Virginia.  Everyone is invited to attend and may present their ideas about reducing poverty in their area and throughout Virginia in a two-minute presentation.

Mark Warner Adapts to the Senate

From Congressional Quarterly Online News:  Mark Warner says he quickly realized that even with his business acumen, getting his head around the question of changing a regulatory framework that “took close to 75 years to develop,” was another matter. “I’ve been trying to educate myself as much as possible,” he said, adding that as a senator, “you can get everybody to at least return your call once.”

VIDA Milestone Achievement Program for Homeownership

The Virginia Individual Development Accounts Program celebrated Financial Momentum yesterday in Richmond.  Recent VIDA graduates were honored and spoke about their new home ownership experiences.  The new DHCD/VIDA video that highlights the program and features interviews was launched and you can watch it now on You Tube
